Ghost is an exploration of place and time. Inspired by the poem Where We Are by Gerald Locklin. This body of work examines the idea of location and relationship, fighting between the realism and fantasy of moving through the world. these images were printed into a handmade accordion-style book with corresponding lines from Locklin's poem on the reverse of each image. The black and white counterparts capture a Film Noir romance: A touch, speeding down a motorway, a makeshift lovenest, life in a cemetery, and the fantastical mist of the city. These ideas are interrupted by colour photograph counterparts which push fears and reality: fleeting memory, abandonment, safety, and distance. The final two photographs capture distance together; New York and Paris side by side, and yet in contrast in location and style.

i envy those

who live in two places:

new york, say, and london; 

wales and spain;

 l.a. and paris;

hawaii and switzerland.

 

there is always the anticipation

of the change, the chance that what is wrong

is the result of where you are. i have

always loved both the freshness of arriving and the relief of leaving. with

two homes every move would be a homecoming.

i am not even considering the weather, hot

or cold, dry or wet' i am talking about hope.
